Under 11's v Woolgoolga

Bowra under 11s took the long trip to Woolgoolga in search of their first win of the season. The past 2 weeks the boys had played their hearts out without getting the results they wanted. From the outset it looked like it would be a tough day with the penalty count heavily against them. But the boys showed a lot of heart to come away with the victory 24-18.

Wyatt Rouse had a huge game scoring 3 tries and was almost unstoppable in attack, Jack Peachman was as safe as a bank at fullback including scoring a great length of the field try. Jai Wassens handled his first game at first receiver well, Brandon Willer tried his heart out as per normal and Blake Spear is slowly working out when to run from dummy half at the right times to help his team get the go forward they need, making some good yards from some handy scoots.

Bowra v Nambucca Heads 30th May

Bowra had the tough assignment of taking on the combined Nambucca/Bellingen side, the opposition was noticeably bigger across the field at the coin toss.

In the first half our boys gave it everything and had the more fancied opponents flustered. The Nambucca big boys didn't like getting tackled hard and Bowra's scrambling defence was everywhere. If not for a dubious try after the half time bell the scores would have been level.

In the second half a few silly mistakes led to lack of possession and spending the whole half trapped down our end. With a bit more improvement we can match these top sides.

Tristan Walker had a massive game with some crunching front on defence as well as some superb cover defence. He was well supported by Jack Peachman, Luke Leonard and Brandon Willer.

Full time score was Bowra 12- Nambucca 34. Try scorers were Brandon Willer and Cody Tyreman.

Under 11's v Kempsey

On Saturday Bowra under 11s ventured to Kempsey to take on probably the strongest team in the Comp and star player "Nemo". The instructions from the coaching staff were simple, more effort, commitment and enthusiasm and that is exactly what we got. The boy's efforts were outstanding, defence was great especially scrambling defence and they all ran with passion.

Cody Tyreman had his best game ever in defence, Brandon Willer was strong all around the park, Wyatt Rouse continued to bust numerous tackles, Tommy Martin ran and tackled hard, Henry Stranlund had some barnstorming runs, Lochie McKewen was strong throughout and Connor Lockyer's efforts were rewarded with 2 tries.

Other try scorers were Wyatt Rouse and Max Thompson. Although the boys went down 36-22, the coaches couldn't be prouder.

Under 11's v Sawtell

Unfortunately 2 weeks in a row the Bowra under 11's have been narrowly beaten in a game we should have won.

On Saturday the whole side seemed to lack motivation and enthusiasm, a lack of urgency in both attack and defence was very evident to see from the sideline.

We did show glimpses of our potential but we need to apply ourselves for the whole game.

Positives on the day were the defence of our smallest man Max Thompson, bringing down opponents twice his size with some copybook tackles. The continued good form and improvement of Lochie McEwen and new players Noah Thompson and Tristan Walker showed they will be valuable assets to the team.

Final score Sawtell 16 Bowraville 12. Try scorers were Brandon Willer and Wyatt Rouse.
