Under 12's Round 1 Match Report

Under 12's round 1
Bowra v Smithtown
Round 1 got off to a good start for the boys. The first half was great to see the work they have done on defence in the pre-season, it has paid off due to some poor ball control, Smithtown was spending the majority of the half on attack. Some good defensive efforts from Zander Bonett and Jack Nash held them out. But due to the poor control Smithtown ran in the first 2 try's. Late in the half after a massive run from Simon Gleeson followed by a good run from Josh Willer which lead to him crossing the line, but again after a half of footy Josh would like to forget he lost control of the ball. So at halftime the Bowra boys were down 8 - 0.
The second half saw a change in ball control, with some great ball carries from Jordan Welsh, Brayth Ledger and Josh Stuart saw Bowra on the front foot. Again the defensive effort from Josh Willer, Nate Pike and Jack Cleversley was awesome, which lead to Bowra's first try to captain Jack Cleversley which he converted. Taking the score to 8 - 6. Again some great defence from Liam Azzopardi, Darcy Fitzgerald and Ethan Williams bought a mistake from Smithtown. Down by 2 with only minutes remaining reliable half's combo of Brody Howle and Brayden Luffman steared the boys up the field. A good little run and grubber from Brayden saw a knock on from Smithtown ten out from their line. Bowra on the attack again close to the line saw the ball again head to the left and to the players player for the day Liam Cuffe who weaved his way through the defence to score the match winner. Bowra run out winner 10 - 8. Great win boys, get as much fortnite in as you can before we train again Tuesday.
