vs Coffs Harbour

The Bowra 13's played host in a top of table clash against the undefeated defending premiers Coffs Harbour Comets in their final home game for the year. The Tigers didn't start well, with some handling errors, silly mistakes, and losing Tyrell West early, you can't give a team like Coffs that much ball and they capitalised and raced out to a 28-0 lead. It could've been more if not for some great tackles from fullback Sam Bekis and centre Steve Borg. The Tigers finally got some ball and looked good, some nice passes in the backline saw the dangerous centre Keith Donovan go on a strong run, only to be brought down metres short. With the Comets defence rushing the Tigers playmakers, smart hooker Brady Atkins fooled them all with a dummy and crashed over the try line. Simon Walker converted from out wide.

Halftime 32-6. The boys were angry at themselves and were keen to turn things around. As they knew they could.

The 2nd half was a much more promising one for the Tigers, with some bruising defence. Coffs struggled to get out of their own half on several occasions. Atkins, Logan Jones, Himayet Robinson and Toby Kinnear got through a mountain of work once again. The Tigers pressured the comets line and a determined Jones crashed through 3 defenders and slammed the ball down under the posts. Walker converts. Jones then split the defence with a backline play, sprinted 50m, and with the Comets chasing, showed some acrobatic skills to score in the corner. The sideline conversion from Jones even got the Comets fans clapping.

With the boys having to play the final 6mins with only 12 players, fulltime read 50-18 Coffs. The 2nd half was only 18-12. The team really has to be credited for not giving in, they fought till the end after a rough start. This team can match it with the Comets, and by the end of the game , they were believing it themselves.

It's now Semi Final time and bring it on!!!! There's something very special building with this team..... Go Bowra Tigers!!!!!!!
