Under 14's Round 1 Match Report

Bowra 14s knew they had a hard game on their hands when a strengthened and determined Kempsey outfit came to town , with Smithtown folding plus adding players from other sides in the comp plus the return of one of the most talented young players in group 2 footy the famous " Nemo " Kempsey have put together a very strong outfit , our boys didn seem daunted by the task ahead and started the game in a confident fashion , unfortunately we didn quite get the game plan right which was basically to win the ruck , slow the play the ball down and frustrate Kempsey , instead we allowed Kempsey to play the way they love and spectators witnesses a try for try , end to end game of footy with defence sort of put on the backburner , luckily enough we showed enough heart and skill and got a bit of luck to run out winners 26 - 24 .
Jack Peachman in his first ever game as halfback was outstanding in both attack and defence , organising his runners and plays and tackling his heart out , Wyatt Rouse played a very determined game highlighted by a great try with a bit of footwork at the line and a great palm , Blake Spear made several determined runs and scored a crucial try , Gary Flanders ( who we thought had left town , please Gary stay at Bowra) showed moments of his freakish talents the Bruise Brothers Tristan Mckelvie and Malcom Noble were strong as always althou both carrying injuries and another big thank you to the oursome foursome Wes Brown, Zane Jones , Brodie Moore and Diem Woods who all added spark and enthusiam off the bench .
Onto the graveyard this weekend were we play another combined team in the Nambucca / Bello / Sawtell outfit .
