Under 14's Round 5 Match Report

Bowra 14's vs Nambucca/Sawtell
A sunny day at Bowraville greeted the under 14's as they faced a strong combined Nambucca and Sawtell outfit. The boys previously lost to this team 3 weeks ago from a try scored on the bell so they knew they were in for a tough game.
Blake Spear led the black and gold out onto the field as the wind began to pick up. Some solid runs from Joe Young had the NamSaw boys on the backfoot early as both teams completed their opening two sets. A few missed tackles saw the oppnonents find space and cross for 3 early tries. Some solid defence from Tristan Mckelvie and the Noble boys (Malcom and Lincoln) wasn't enough to keep NamSaw from finding the line on 2 more occasions before halftime taking the score onto 0-24 as both teams hit the sheds.
After a pep talk from the coaches, we were eager to see what the boys could do as they ran back out onto the paddock. With ball control in the windy conditions as a problem, NamSaw crossed the line once again with an unconverted kick to take score to 0-28
After a couple of penalties and some barnstorming runs from big Brodie Moore, the ball was spread out wide to find the hands of Wyatt Rouse who showed great footwork to beat his defender and cross for a try.
With time running out, it was too late for a fairytale comeback and the NamSaw boys found the line once again taking the final score to 4-32.
A special thank you to the U/13's boys who rushed to Bowra after playing a full game at Dorrigo and arriving at halftime. Brodie Moore, Zane Jones and Wes Brown didn't look out of place with strong runs and solid defence from all the them.
It was an unfortunate loss for the boys but with no game next weekend for the long weekend, the boys will be rested and ready to come out firing against a strong Coffs Harbour side.
