Under 14's Round 6 Match Report

Bowra 14s travelled to Coffs for last yrs Grand Final rematch , after a disappointing last game the boys were keen to turn their season around . Bowra started really strongly with a mistake free first few sets which resulted in Wyatt Rouse scoring outwide and Blake Spear knocking over a great sideline conversion .
Unfortunately a few errors crept into Bowras game , trying to push passes early in the tackle count and giving away a few questionable penalties allowed Coffs back into the game and they scored 3 unanswered tries , Malcolm Noble through sheer determination scored a try right on half time , converted by Blake Spear which took the half time score to 14 - 12 Coffs way .
After half time the boys seemed to lose their way a little as its been all season we seemed to lack direction and communication and Coffs were starting to role through us a little too easily and looked to be finishing a bit stronger with the rotation of their bench compared to only 1 reserve for Bowra but too our credit we continued to hold them out .
With 10 minutes to go it was still a 2 point game when both Tristan Mckelvie and Malcolm Noble had to be assisted from the field with match ending injuries , thankfully i have been informed both boys have been cleared of serious injuries , this left Bowra with 12 players and Coffs had strong field position eventually crashing over for a 20 - 12 win .
Malcolm Noble and Tristan Mckelvie were outstanding putting in effort after effort and Locky McEwan's kicking game constantly had the Coffs team under pressure and all in all it was a much improved performance from the Bowra boys , with continued good attendance at training the boys are not far off returning to their premiership winning form from last yr
Remember boys best thing about footy is its on again next weekend and with more hard work at training im positive good times are ahead .
